The Iris and Rose garden first opened in April 2006 and now holds the largest collection in Spain (and possibly in Europe) of irises with more than 500 different varieties. Our dry, Mediterranean climate suits the bearded irises perfectly. If you are searching for a particular iris, please ask as not everything is on the website. Roses are a new passion and love our deep clay soil. We have nearly 1000 planted in the ground from ramblers climbing olive trees, a good collection of David Austin and other modern shrubs to old Tea and Noisette roses from France. The middle of May is normally the best time to see roses in bloom. Spring is always a magical time of year and is particularly beautiful with thousands of tulips, narcissus and crocus planted in light shade under our old carob trees. Spring bulbs best from late March to mid April.
