SPRING IS IN THE AIR!  April, 2012:

This is such an exciting time of year, every morning there is something new to be discovered bursting into flower!  The tulips and narcissus have been wonderful and the cool weather has meant that they have lasted for almost 3 weeks!  Many are still coming and looking good and have been much enjoyed.  We must plant more and can't wait for the bulb catalogues to arrive!  A visiting dutch couple commented on our clever mixed plantings, saying that in Holland tulips are planted in big blocks of boring single colours.  We took this as a great compliment!

The dwarf iris are now blooming and also the arilbred, intermediate irises will be out soon.  Full bloom for the tall bearded will be as usual during the first 10 days of May, though there will be a lot out by the last week of April. In autumn 2011 we planted another 300 roses, including a white rose garden, adding to our collection of old and modern roses.  These should be at their best in May, though many are already in bud now.The garden has been extended a lot over the winter with new areas planted.  It is becoming a lot to manage as year by year, Nick and I manage less hours in the garden.  Volunteers would be very welcome as we need more pairs of hands and we could share out plants with willing helpers!  What better place to enjoy gardening!

Without all the enthusiastic support from our visitors, we just could not afford to carry on.  A huge Thank You to everyone and hope to welcome you again this year.  Please pass the word and bring your friends and family.  The Lions are having their annual Tea Party on the 8th May when we shall be in full bloom, hope to see you!
